Privacy Policy
What LEON Bet collects from Australian players, why we are allowed to hold it, who else sees it, and how you get it back or corrected.
What this policy covers
This policy explains what LEON Bet does with the personal information of players who register, deposit and play in Australia. It covers the account you open, the payments you make, the games you open and the messages you receive from us. It applies to the website, the mobile site and the Android app.
Read it together with our Cookie Policy, which sets out the tracking side in detail, and our Terms and Conditions, which govern the account itself.
The data we collect
We hold six kinds of information about you, and each one has a reason to exist.
- Identity data: full name, date of birth, country of residence and the details on the document you upload during verification.
- Contact data: email address, mobile number and prefix, and any address you give us for verification.
- Financial data: the payment method you choose in the Cashier, the deposits and withdrawals on your account, and the balance history that goes with them. Card and wallet credentials sit with the payment provider, not with us.
- Technical data: IP address, device type, operating system, browser, and the login events tied to your session.
- Usage data: which pages you open, which games you launch, the bets you place and the promotions you opt into.
- Verification data: the identity and address documents you send for KYC, plus the checks run on them by our verification partners.
We do not ask for information we have no use for, and we do not buy player lists from third parties.
Why we are allowed to hold it
Different pieces of data rest on different grounds, and it matters which is which.
- Your consent covers marketing: promotional email, SMS and push messages. You can withdraw it at any time in your account settings, and withdrawing it does not close your account.
- Performing our contract with you covers everything the account needs to work: registering you, holding your balance, settling bets, paying withdrawals and answering support tickets.
- Legal obligation covers identity verification, anti-money-laundering checks, sanctions screening and the records a regulator can ask us to produce.
- Legitimate interest covers fraud prevention, bonus-abuse detection, service security and the analytics we use to keep the platform stable.
Marketing consent and mandatory verification data are separate things. Saying no to promotional email does not remove the obligation on us to verify who you are before we pay a withdrawal.
Who we share data with
Your data goes to four groups of recipients, and only for the purpose that put it there:
- Payment providers process deposits and withdrawals and see the transaction data they need to move the money.
- Verification agencies check the documents you upload and confirm that the identity is real and matches you.
- Game providers receive the session data needed to run the game you launched and to settle its result.
- Regulators, auditors and law enforcement receive data when a law or a licence condition requires it.
We do not sell player data, and we do not pass it to advertisers as a product. Where a partner processes data on our behalf, they are bound by contract to use it only for the task we gave them.
Sending data outside Australia
Some of the providers above operate outside Australia. When your data is disclosed to them, Australian Privacy Principle 8 applies: we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles it in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles, either through the protections in their own jurisdiction or through the contract we hold with them.
If you want to know which countries are involved for a specific service, ask us and we will tell you.
Your rights under the Privacy Act 1988
Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles you can:
- Ask what we hold. Email us from the address on your account and we will send you a copy of your personal information.
- Correct it. Most fields can be changed in your account settings. Fields locked by verification are corrected by support once the new document is checked.
- Ask us to delete it. See the retention section below for what deletion can and cannot mean.
- Opt out of marketing. Turn it off in your account settings or use the unsubscribe link in any message.
If we get a request wrong, or you are unhappy with our answer, you can escalate the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. You do not need our permission to do that, and doing it will not affect your account.
How long records are kept
Deletion is not absolute, and it would be dishonest to imply otherwise. Anti-money-laundering law sets minimum retention periods for identity documents, verification results and transaction records. While that period runs, we cannot erase those records even if you ask us to and even if you have closed your account.
What we can do straight away is stop using your data for anything beyond that legal obligation: no marketing, no profiling, no analytics. When the retention period ends, the records are deleted or irreversibly anonymised.
Data that carries no retention obligation, such as marketing preferences and support chat history, is removed on request or once it is no longer needed.
Cookies and tracking
We use cookies to keep you logged in, remember your settings and measure how the site performs. Advertising and analytics cookies are optional and can be switched off without breaking the account.
The full list of categories, their lifetimes and browser-by-browser instructions live on the Cookie Policy page.
How your account is protected
Traffic between your device and our servers is encrypted with SSL. Access to verification documents is restricted to the staff who process them. Payment credentials stay with the payment provider and are never stored on our systems in readable form.
Two-factor authentication is available in your account settings and we recommend switching it on. Use a password you do not use anywhere else, do not share your login, and tell support immediately if you think someone else has been in your account.
Anyone under 18
LEON Bet is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data about anyone younger, and we do not market to them.
If we find that an account belongs to a person under 18, we suspend it, stop processing the data for any purpose other than closing the account and meeting our legal obligations, and delete what the law allows us to delete. The account handling that follows is set out in our Terms and Conditions.
Contact and complaints
Privacy questions go to our support team through live chat or email, available 24 hours a day. Ask for the privacy officer and the request will be routed there. You do not need to hunt through the site to find a form.
Tell us what you want: access, correction, deletion, or an explanation of a decision. We will confirm receipt, tell you what we can do, and say plainly when a legal obligation stops us from doing it. If our answer does not satisfy you, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner is the next step.
